Vacancy - Optical Eyewear Technician

We are looking for an experienced eyewear technician to join our team and manage the manufacture of our eyewear frames.  

The job

The Optical Eyewear Technician is responsible for performing a variety of production tasks for manufacturing eyewear frames. The technician is responsible for the entire manufacture process, quality control and management of the workshop.


  • Manufacturing production run of stock every month
  • Operate industrial machinery
  • Implement handcrafting eyewear techniques using necessary tools
  • Actively progress and contribute to developing the manufacturing process
  • Organising incoming stock / components
  • Perform monthly counts on frame inventory
  • Learn and operate machinery to process material
  • Use machinery and tools to coat lenses
  • Clean and maintain the machines thoroughly
  • Use machinery and tools to assemble eyewear with a focus on quality and attention to detail

Skills and abilities

  • Ability to handle repetitive tasks while maintaining consistency, accuracy and efficiency
  • Skilled in CAD software preferred
  • Excellent organisation, time-management, problem-solving skills
  • Fantastic communication and interpersonal skills (working in a small team)
  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail; good hand-eye coordination
  • Quality Assurance experience, preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; to work well under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to take direction

Education and experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read and write English
  • Experience handling optics and knowledge within eyewear manufacture
  • Lab, warehouse or manufacturing experience highly preferred

  • Must have good hand dexterity and ability to work with small hand tools
  • Requires the ability to work with small hand tools
  • Frequent bending and stooping
